Old Joe has gotta go or he will destroy the Democratic Party and American democracy!
There is no way Joe Biden will win the election after his disastrous debate performance. Every concern about his fitness for office was validated in the first few minutes of the debate when Biden awkwardly shuffled out, looked like death warmed over with his pale complexion, and failed to recover when he lost his train of thought. It was immediately clear that the Fox News crowd would have a field day rerunning that first horrible clip, but then it kept going downhill with Biden’s gap-mouth expression when Trump was speaking and his additional verbal stumbles. Assuming this was just a bad night is unrealistic; at his age, there will be many more bad nights – and bad days. Our allies and enemies also took notice. If a Republican contender presented as poorly as Biden did, Democrats would be going crazy and suggesting the invocation of the 25th Amendment to get him removed from office. Democrats cannot have a double standard and expect respect as a party.
The Emperor Has No Clothes
Party leaders continuing to back Biden and declare his fitness for office is dangerous. Loyalty can only go so far. Pretending all is well with Old Joe will destroy the integrity of the Democratic Party by showing party leaders to be shameless liars. It is reminiscent of the final years of the Reagan presidency, when Ronald Reagan was suffering from Alzheimer’s, and it was hidden from the American public. However, in Biden’s case, those supporting him know before the election that he is not mentally fit for another term.
Joe Biden has been on shaky ground for months. Polls have shown Biden and Trump in a dead heat from the beginning. The Hunter Biden drama has hurt the president, and President Biden’s handling of the Israel/Gaza crisis has destroyed his support from the “woke” left. To win against Trump, Biden needs support from Independents. After the debate, the ONLY constituency that will still support Biden are hardcore Democrats, and that will not be enough for a win.
Biden Is a Victim of His Own Ego
“I’m staying in the race. I’ll beat Donald Trump. I will beat him again in 2020, and by the way, we’re going to do it again in 2024.”
At the Wisconsin Rally on Friday, July 5, 2024, Biden declared his intention to stay in the race and not drop out to pass the torch to a younger Democrat. He cited his impressive record in growing the economy and standing up for the rights of all Americans – particularly women. President Biden has a lot to be proud of. In 2020, he rescued the nation from a second Trump presidency, and his record as president has been exceptional.
Joe Biden was the right man for president in 2020; however, in 2024, he is no longer the best candidate.
Joe Biden needs to be a patriot and pass the torch to another, younger Democrat. There are many viable candidates: Harris, Newsom, Whitmer, and Jeffries, among others. If Biden insists on remaining the Democratic candidate, he will not only lose the election, he will lose the Senate and most down-ballot races, and he will position Donald Trump to destroy American democracy.
Too much is at stake.
